Multivitamin Supplementation
For years, I have been encouraging people to supplement their nutrition with a high quality multivitamin/mineral/antioxidant supplement. I am not alone.
Dr. W. Gifford-Jones writes a syndicated newspaper column called "The Doctor Game". His June 15th article in the West Niagara News was titled "Vitamins: too much or too little?" He begins by describing the confusion many people have regarding supplementation. Should I take them, how much, which ones, etc. He then refers the reader to Lyle MacWilliam's book, The Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplementation. It is not a coincidence that we recommend the same book in Chapter 5 of The Simple Secrets to Better Health. After Dr. Gifford-Jones read the book, he reports "Some products I had been taking did not score well-- and being a Scot, I wanted to get value for my money." The doctor concludes, "The prime message is not to either under dose or over dose with vitamins. Nor can vitamins undo a lifetime of faulty habits".
Dr. Sanjay Gupta is CNN's top medical correspondent and a practicing neurosurgeon. He has travelled the globe looking for the latest in life extension science. He was recently featured in Life Extension magazine talking about his research, his book Chasing Life and his personal regime. He states, "So these are the three ways I changed my life: a sense of purpose or ikigai, upper body resistance training and consuming the seven different coloured foods each day, along with the addition of fish oils and a multivitamin."
Dr.'s Gifford-Jones, Gupta and Southward all take a high quality multivitamin supplement which is complete, balanced and optimal in potentcy. Be aware that you will get what you pay for and that not all multivitamins are the quality and potency that you need.
The bottom line-- Please, for your own sake and that of your loved ones, insure your nutrition by taking a high quality multivitamin/mineral/antioxidant. The Simple Secrets/ Chapter 12 makes some recommendations for you. Personally, I like Pharmanex's automatic program for its convenience and quality. My subscription to their LifePak Nano supplement arrives automatically at my door every month and is charged to my Visa card. It has fish oils for Omega 3's and antioxidants included in the package.
Let us help you do the same. You can call Kelly in our office (905-563-4001) and she can set you up with a similar automatic supplementation program. You can make changes to it or even cancel it at any time. Health insurance has never been so easy.
